Quebec brewer now part of “Six Pints” craft division.

Canadian brewery and brewpub Trou du Diable has been purchased outright by multinational Molson Coors. The move sees the brand join other high profile Canadian brands, including Grenville Island and Creemore Springs, in Molson Coors’s Six Pints Specialty Beer Company portfolio.

Trou du Diable was founded in 2011 and specialises in barrel-aged and farmhouse-style beers. Two years later it expanded to a 50hL brewhouse and boasts Canada’s largest barrel-ageing cellar. On the Molson Coors website, Trou du Diable’s president, Issac Tremblay was quoted as saying that the buyout was necessary for his brewery to “continue to flourish in an ever tightening market”.

Molson Coors established Six Pints in 2011, aware that the changing face of the beer market required a different business model. For the moment there will be no change in the production or distribution of Trou du Diable beer.
