EBCU, the voice of the European beer consumers, has officially endorsed the Swiss Beer Award – Schweizer Bierpreis. This endorsement recognizes the competition’s adherence to the high standards of beer evaluation and celebrates Switzerland’s significant role in the European beer landscape.

Christoph Lienert, a representative of the Swiss Beer Award, expressed his excitement about this prestigious acknowledgment: “We aimed to elevate our national beer competition to a new level and applied for the endorsement by the EBCU. We are thrilled that the Swiss Beer Award has been approved by the EBCU’s experts and is now listed among other esteemed competitions.”

André Brunnsberg, Chairman of the EBCU, commented on the endorsement: “The Swiss Beer Award fulfills all the criteria we set for an EBCU endorsement. It operates with transparency, fairness, and a high degree of professionalism. The Swiss Beer Award, is a national competition celebrating the variety and excellence of beers produced in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. With nearly 1,200 official breweries, Switzerland and neighboring Lichtenstein boasts a rich brewing culture. The award aims to introduce the public to the country’s vast beer variety and superior quality.

The EBCU’s endorsement underlines the Swiss Beer Award’s commitment to independent, unbiased judging and operational excellence, resonating with EBCU’s core values. This recognition places the Swiss Beer Award as a trusted and respected platform in the international beer industry.

The competition features a broad range of categories, from traditional wheat and rye beers to robust stouts and historical brews, showcasing the comprehensive nature of Swiss brewing. It is supported by a steering committee that includes representatives from the Swiss Brewers Association, independent Swiss breweries, the Swiss Brewmasters Association, the Society for the Promotion of Beer Culture, Bio Suisse, Labor Veritas AG, and ZHAW.
